Abstract

This paper intends to discuss the links between education and medicine in the 19er century in Brazil, especially in the District of Court. It analyses the thesis developed at the Medicine College of
Rio de Janeiro – FMRJ to investigate how the medical speech of those years had in education one of its main vectors of social intervention. In that sense the schools appeared for the medical field a priority place for spreading its conceptions on hygiene, health, body and school education.
