This paper intends to contribute to the debate about the definition of the specificity of the profession of preschool education teacher. Based on an analysis of statements by teachers and classroom assistants, a reflection is made about the dynamic in the relationships between these professions who act directly with children from Oto 6 years in preschool education institutions. Forthis purpose, we first analyze
factors concerning power relationships established between women in our society, and then deepen an analysis of the factors that appear to be determinate in the dynamic of the relationships of subordination/domination between the professionals who act side-by-side in education and care
for small children, among them: the task that they exercise (teacher and classroom assistant), functional situation (full-time or substitute) and the levei of education and professional experience.
