This article proposes to relate the concept of childhood held by
children's education professionals with their pedagogical activity, indicating the needto reflect upon this issue in orderto deepen the knowtedge about pedagogy that is placed in practice in this contexto In this sense, this article points to elements in lhe discussion about the importance of a pedagogy that considers lhe social insertion oflhe child in its reality, which requires adiscussion about prejudices and stigmatization of children, present in the daily practice of child education. These questions also relate to the discussion aboutthe formation of child education professionals, pointing to the need to open space to work with questions relative to the material nature and diversity ofhuman beings.
