Having the inalienable respansibility of getting children and youngsters involved with reading, schools must define aplace for literature in its educational project. As it is a valuable source for expressive leaming, literature may work. out in schools provided that teachers are willing to understand and practice it
accordingly to the characteristics of the expressive area, which willlead to a new way of suggesting readings, their follow-up and evaluation. Freedom of choice, the reading process follow-up and the 'gradeless' evaluation become then the leading paint of the experience with literature and bring hope that it may be regarded as a pleasant and rewarding activity by students,
