Abstract

Science is affected by the growth in commoditization, as can be seen by the attempt by the World Trade Organization
to declare that services cannot be regulated by national governments. This situation is associated to the strong loss of influence of the sciences and philosophy in postmodern societies that reject foundations; as journalists become the new public opinion leaders. The condition of abstraction that financial sectors place on the economy, leads to a consequential de-materialization of the intellectual, with a consequential abandonment of conflict
and critical positions.
