This article deals with two important philosophers who are of great influence among educators nowadays, Schütz and Habermas. The article aims to demonstrate, particulary for teachers and students of the education field, the theoretical interdependence between both thinkers. We hold the view, not always perceived by specialists in the area, that a great number of Schütz philosophical and sociological arguments have been decisive for Habermas thought. Actually, a fact recognized by Habermas himself. The article points out, as well, how Phenomenology, since Husserl's time, remains a rich, influential and productive philosophical thought, even when adapted or proposed within a newtheoretical profile.
