The concept of object of teaching in a cultural-historical perspective

The article presents a conceptualization for the expression “object of teaching” in a Cultural-Historical perspective of pedagogical activity. Methodologically, we analyze a teaching situation with students from the early years of elementary school, with the curricular component Physical Education. The analysis was held through the mediation of the category of activity, considering the contributions of historical and dialectical materialism. Arguments are presented to support the idea that the object of teaching refers to a conceptual synthesis of the object of human activity with which a knowledge area works, a synthesis of the experiences and capacities objectified in the various contents, subjects or topics of teaching. Finally, we discuss the pedagogical potential of the concept of object of teaching to orient the (rel)actions that the individuals of pedagogical activity, teachers and students, establish with the different knowledge presented in teaching, in order to contribute to the formation of students’ theoretical thinking.
