Abstract

According to the author of this volume in the acclaimed John Benjamins translation library, its purpose is to frame the contours of a debate surrounding a little-discussed subject: the complex question of translating children’s literature in South Africa, a multilingual developing nation with intriguing historical and cultural trajectories. Kruger’s analysis addresses the current postcolonial peculiarities of a nation characterized by manifold conflicts.

 

 

Author Biography

Vanessa Lopes Lourenço Hanes, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina

Mestre em Estudos da Tradução (2011) e Doutora em Estudos da Tradução (2015) pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, com período de estágio doutoral na Universidade da Antuérpia, Bélgica. Pesquisa atualmente questões relacionadas com a tradução de representações do discurso oral em formato escrito, da língua inglesa para o português brasileiro, com ênfase no conceito de registro. Interessa-se ainda pela tradução de variações da língua inglesa no Brasil, em especial pela tradução de dialetos sulistas norte-americanos. Busca enfocar a abordagem da língua inglesa em diferentes esferas levando em conta suas variantes em expressões literárias, cinematográficas, etc. Possui experiência como tradutora free lancer, professora de língua inglesa para diferentes faixas etárias e professora de português para estrangeiros.
