This work presents an interdisciplinary approach to bilingual lexicography based on parallel corpora by discussing the criteria to be adopted. We elaborate procedures to characterize the semantic variation of a given word in a bilingual context based on linguistic and translation tools applied to parallel corpora, including: the word concordance, the alignments of parallel french-to-portuguese occurrences, the classification of translation relations in question, and an enunciative-distributional analysis of the utterances where the words occur. This work, illustrated in the present paper by the observation and analysis of the word capanga, allows the lexicographer to include definitions and contextualizations of the semantic variations of the words studied in the dictionary entry. The dictionary entry content is based on the proportionality relation between the frequency of occurrences in the corpus and the order of insertion in the dictionary entry.Downloads
