(English) Electronic encyclopedia: similarities and differences with the traditional document

This work presents an analysis of the "Almanaque Abril CD-ROM 1998" trying to know its characteristics and potentialities and comparing it with the paper issue of the same document. It is based on the idea that the study of electronic documents can contribute to their improvement as dissemination tools. The study is founded on Hoey's research of reference works which he calls "discourse colonies". Our analysis made possible to notice that all characteristics presented by Hoey can be found in the "Almanaque Abril CD-ROM 98", and many of them seem to be accentuated due to the resources of the electronic media.
