INFORMATION ACQUISITION BASED ON MONITORING AND PROSPECTING

Abstract

Goal: Information when well used becomes a strategic and powerful ingredient for people and organizations. The way in which information is obtained that impacts the intended results, as well as its use, assigns meaning to the reality of interest and generates the expansion of knowledge. The objective of this study is to identify the evolution of research on information acquisition and the issues involved such as Information and Knowledge Management and its monitoring and prospecting processes. Design½Methodology½Approach: An exploratory, quantitative and qualitative approach was used, integrating data and analysis of results to compose understandings and trends. Access and acquisition of information are carried out in various ways and methods, prevailing an organization based on what is intended and accurate about a given phenomenon, decision to solve problems, technology, process, service, product, others. Results: Information management and knowledge management involve a mutuality that provides information with an important role in formal and informal structures in different individual, collective and organizational contexts. Thus, monitoring and prospecting activities involve fundamental stages of information acquisition, as they can generate high added value to activities and developments. Originality½Value:With the studies identified, it was possible to establish the occurrence of an increase in research involving sources of information , methods, models and tools, for the systematic and continuous acquisition of information that will satisfy a need at different levels of themes, from the most basic to the most complex, and also the analysis of the results show the role of acquiring information for monitoring and prospecting as an important activity and a supplier of valuable informational raw materials to these processes.
