Youth Educational experiments school and cultural groups

This article, which is based on the
socialization concept, discusses
some youth educational experiments
at school and in cultural groups. We
debate, under the Youth Sociology’s
point of view, the constitution of the
contemporary youth category and its
relation with the school environment
and other social environments where
the youth are found. We analyze youth
social practices as sociocultural ways
of resisting and protesting that are
associatively and collectively
expressed emphasizing their
sociopolitical sense. In addition to that,
we present empirical data from
researches carried out with youths
from the south of Brazil that allow us
to conclude about the necessity of
incorporating youth cultural values in
the educational process in order to
allow schools to go beyond their mere
roles of answering the youth’s
questions and educating them to face
social adaptation.
