The cross-cultural perspective of education, placing in the Brazilian context the relations of identity and difference developed within social movements as well as within the popular and school education, is discussed epistemologically. The paradigm of complexity has proven to be a promising epistemological perspective to make possible a logical leap necessary for the critical understanding of the conceptand of the proposals of cross-cultural education. It is in this direction that the group responsible for the integrated process of research is advancing: 1) in the critical elaboration of the epistemological assumptions of cross-culture; 2) in the conceptualization of the cross-cultural education pertaining to the Brazilian reality; 3) in the study of cross-culture in the relations ofr aces, of generations, and within social movements; aiming at the elaboration of theoretical and methodological subsidies for the development of educators.
