This text discusses the work and training of teachers at a time in which transformations in the fi eld of production require the creation of a new type of individual and worker. It affi rms the special place occupied by the teaching professional – subject to and subject of public education policies. It discusses the need to analyze the work and education of these professionals and the processes of subjectivation engendered by pedagogical measures, based on the analysis of the relationship between education and market and on the demands produced by this relationship. It examines the reorganization of the spaces of teacher education, undertaken to limit the process to professionalization of the teacher. The papers question the role of this educational professional given the reproduction of the current logic and the construction of alternatives.
