The paper analyzes characteristics that shape the periphery of the capitalist system, based on a a critical dialogue with authors who advocate theses according to which, in this part of the system, the labor force is paid below its value, characterizing a super-exploitation of labor, which is fundamental to the predominance of the extraction of absolute surplus value. Based on the concepts of Marx’s Capital, this text examines the production of absolute and relative surplus value and the relationship between them, as well as the issue of the value and price of labor.
