Abstract

The article examines the foundations of management in Civil Society Organizations and discusses its relevance for institutional development and long-term sustainability. Management is presented as a social practice that articulates values such as justice, solidarity, participation, and collective responsibility, distinguishing itself from managerial models applied in the market and in public administration. The study adopts a descriptive–interpretative approach, describing the structural and symbolic elements of management in the Third Sector and relating them to theoretical perspectives that address efficiency, effectiveness, and impact in social organizations. The discussion shows that resource fragility, the multiplicity of stakeholders, the intangibility of results, and the growing demand for legitimacy make management a central pillar for organizational continuity and credibility. The analysis demonstrates that sustainability depends on balancing internal processes, mission, capacity for articulation, and social relevance, integrating people, resources, services, and relationships with society.
