This research consists in a systematic review of the theme “media-education and childhood”, in english language journals between 2003 and 2012. Nine journals were analyzed, including the fields of Physical Education, Education and Communication. The purpose of this study is to discuss the tendencies in media-education and childhood scientific production. The articles were categorized by “field”, “research emphasis”, “media tool”, “methodological design”. 16 articles were identified within the journals. The analyzed studies give emphasis to the media as a teaching-learning tool. The empirical researches prevail, however theoretical studies were also found in significant numbers. The number of published articles within the theme “media-education and childhood” is considered limited. In front of the challenges imposed to media integration with the children education process this theme presents itself as a promising research agenda to the physical educational field.Downloads
