Abstract

We reflect the sport as a important  space for constructions of ways of being,  a place of sociability that develop countless fights of sexual identities. In such context, this paper aims to reflect on the film Beautiful Boxer (2004), making notes about the subject of sexuality and genres deviant of standard  heteronormative (gays, transvestites, transsexuals) in the sport from the history of the filme: a boxing fighter  transsexual that breaks the traditional image of the virile and manly men how the only possibility for a boxer. By showing a fighter who moves between a muscular body condition and delicate at the same time, capable of extreme force movements and delicate gestures in the ring, the film decentralizes the markings of classic genre and binary notions of masculine and feminine, that  polarize strength and delicacy in the sport and makes us think about the sport from a queer approach.
