This article proposes a reflection on the need to place the philosophy of ancestry as a discipline in higher education in the state of Santa Catarina and in the south of the country, as is the case in some Brazilian public universities. The philosophy of ancestry is located in the field of education, committing itself to the Afro-Brazilian culture and to the education of ethnic-racial relations. Moreover, it lies at the theoretical crossroads at the center of which is African philosophy, and the possible paths of dialogue open to Latin American, Caribbean, European philosophical thinking, and afrocentered epistemology. The philosophy of ancestry claims a pluriversal epistemology, that is, an Afro-Brazilian philosophy that needs to be studied in the classroom, with the purpose of combating historical and socioculturally rooted racism in Brazil. Law 10.639/2003 determines that the courses of History, Arts and Literature foster discussion around ethnic-racial relations, but the mapping of these courses of higher education institutions in the state of Santa Catarina revealed the absence and invisibility of theoretical foundations with adherence to the philosophy of ancestry.References
