In this paper, we seek to reflect on a possible contradiction between the high production of knowledge of the humanities in education and the finding of a growing loss of the quality of basic education in the country. We question the possibility of a possible distance of the educative practice regarding the humanizing and civilizatory project near the notion of paideia, in particular by the imposition of economic demands with sparing redistribution of resources and the absence of social self-realization opportunities, creating resentment in a significant part of society. In the end, we pointed to a need of retaking the exercise of the appreciation of struggles for ethical recognition, the qualitative appreciation of social relationships, as well as, the practice focused on the emancipation of subjects while the foundation of the education sciences and the school itself. In order to produce this reflection, we adopted the path of a theoretical essay due to its reflexive and interpretative nature.
