The Robert William Ott method is used, as it is assumed that it helps children to appropriate aesthetic codes, however, it points to the need to rethink practices with image reading from an experience performed in educational practice with three-year-old children. It discusses the need to explore the different areas of knowledge of Art Teaching, not dichotomizing them and searching, in Lev Semenovich Vigotski, bases to understand how the process of artistic-cultural appropriation in childhood. It concludes that pedagogical practices should enable children to try and experience activities that broaden their possibilities of knowing and enriching their artistic-cultural repertoires.
