Abstract

This article is about the information potentiality of the iconic sign from the perspective of Charles Sanders Peirce’ Semiotics, an instrument used to deal with the information ontological statute - its inscription in the secundity – as well as its presence inside the semiotics triad - in the form of immediate object of the sign. From this approach it is verified that the possibility the way information is presented in primity state, it is the element that will characterize the icon, the sign inscribed in the first category.
