Abstract

This article studies de work of a professional librarian within schools. Emphasizing the basic school years (Brazilian standard) as the place where children first make contact with a library and the librarian. Special attention was given to the pedagogical responsibilities of this same professional, who is also known as school active agent, therefore, having essential importance in the educative communication process.
