This paper discusses the importance of addressing historical and philosophical concepts of space and time in Basic Education. For this, the present survey was carried out in order to assess the relevance of certain pedagogical strategies which discusses the construction of science to light aspects of Nature of Science. After an extensive historical research on these concepts, some moments we consider to be more relevant within the Basic Education, to be addressed in the classroom, were elected. These moments are: 1) Galileo and the geometrization of space and time; 2) The Mechanics of Newton and the space and absolute time; 3) The Relativity of Einstein and the space and relative time. In the light of this historical and philosophical panorama, a teaching sequence was implemented and constantly evaluated considering the following items: historical background; presentation / questioning of concepts; performing activities; and evaluation. This process allowed us to have an extensive material for analysis and evaluation by the end of the school year.
