Abstract

We examine the multiple conditions experienced by women writers in a predominantly male work field, their conflicts and problems by being monitored and censored by a dictatorship. At the same time, that was a period of widespread dissemination of feminist theories and of a strong international recognition of Latin American literature. We investigate the life and work of some women writers from the Southern Cone who suffered setbacks as a result from the civil-military dictatorships, because of their novels written at the time or afterwards, that had the dictatorships as their theme, and presented some testimonies and interviews.
