Reverence for Life: A Plea for an Ecocentric Counterculture in the Anthropocene

This essay provides a synthetic and exploratory review of the ecocentric strand in the field of ecopolitical thinking as has been stated by Robyn Eckersley in his masterpiece published in the 1990´s. From this starting point, the authors seek to build creative bridges linking Eckersley´s ecopolitical model to creative insights based upon complex systems, biology of cognition, and transdisciplinary ecological learning. Besides, the text show some projections of this line of thought in the current ecopolitical debates around the concept of degrowth and the post-development appraisal of neoliberalism.
A radical change of perception in dealing with the structural drivers of the global socioecological crisis is considered in the text as a crucial requirement in the search of an ecocentric-based way of living at the crossroads of the Anthropocene.
