Abstract

This text makes an analysis of media discourse post-Olympics 2012 associated to the formation of potential athletes to represent Brazil in the main international events. In the post-Olympic 2000, physical education was presented as the place of "investment" for the formation of the base of the pyramid sports. Our goal is to check if the media discourse post-Olympics 2012 still considers physical education the same way. In speeches analyzed we found that there was a shift of physical education, however, the school as a whole, still remains as an appropriate place for the formation of the base of the pyramid sports.
