About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Perspectiva journal, established in 1983, is a publication of the Center for Educational Sciences at UFSC, which aims to disseminate academic production on education and the theoretical and critical deepening of themes and advances in discussions on issues in the educational field and research produced in Brazil and abroad.
Perspectiva publishes national and international texts that focus on education, especially those resulting from completed research, of a theoretical or empirical nature, that present contributions on hot topics in the area.
The articles organized in the form of thematic Dossier constitute the core of the Journal, which also includes articles in the Continuous Demand section.
Peer Review Process
Perspectiva adopts a double-blind peer review process in its editorial workflow.
All original manuscripts, including those submitted to thematic Dossiers selected through public calls, undergo an initial editorial pre-assessment (desk review) conducted by the editorial team. At this stage, manuscripts are evaluated for originality, scholarly contribution, relevance, topicality, overall structure, compliance with the journal’s editorial policies and submission guidelines, and are subject to a text similarity check (plagiarism screening). Failure to meet any of these criteria results in rejection and archiving of the manuscript. This initial review aims to determine whether the submission adheres to the journal’s standards and whether a full external peer review is warranted.
Manuscripts that receive a favorable assessment at this stage are subsequently forwarded to two external reviewers, holding a doctoral degree and with expertise in the subject matter of the submission. In the event of divergent evaluations, an additional reviewer will be appointed, and this process will continue as necessary until a final decision is reached.
The Editor-in-Chief or the Associate Editor responsible for the evaluation process will inform the author(s) of the editorial decision, which may be: acceptance without revisions, mandatory revisions (with or without an additional round of peer review), or rejection and archiving of the manuscript.
The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts that are found to contain significant textual similarity (plagiarism) with other works at any stage of the editorial process.
The list of ad hoc reviewers is published in the final issue of each volume (year).
Publication of Articles
The journal Perspectiva accepts unpublished texts, national and international, with up to 4 (four) authors, at least one of which is a Ph.D., which are the result of completed research of a theoretical or empirical nature, which focus on education and which present contributions on burning issues of the area.
Thematic Dossier Articles
The articles organized in the form of thematic Dossier constitute the core of the Journal, which also includes articles in continuous demand.
From the publication of notices for the selection of proposals, the thematic dossiers must be proposed and organized by up to 3 (three) professors with a Ph.D. And one of them must necessarily have an effective relationship with the Educational Sciences Center of the Federal University of Santa Catarina.
According to the blinded review evaluation system, the invitation made to authors to compose the dossiers does not guarantee the publication of their articles. The publication of the works is subject to the approval of the Scientific Editorial Board, based on the opinions of ad hoc evaluators. The evaluation system is a double-blind review, which means that the names of the reviewers will remain confidential, omitting the authors' names before them.
The final opinion will be communicated directly to the authors, through the submission system (OJS).
The Articles must be submitted after being rigorously revised, under penalty of non-acceptance by the Journal, as the adequacy to the language and ABNT standards are criteria considered in the evaluation. If the reviewers request changes to the text, the article's publication will be subject to the delivery of the requested corrections within the deadline established by the Journal.

Publication Ethics
Plagiarism
Perspectiva has adopted systems for detecting plagiarism (e.g. software, searching for similar titles, partnership with the CrossRef Association). Since 2010 the published articles have been identified with DOI and are registered in the Crossref.
Author declaration
The authors can submit only original and unpublished papers, which means do not being simultaneously evaluated by another Journal.
Photos and images taken from other publications can be published only if the authors send us copyright and permission.
Funding
The Perspective Journal has financial support from Brazilian government agencies, such as CNPq, FAPESC, CAPES, among others. We ensure that issues that have received financial support from any other agency are accepted solely based on academic merit.
Peer Review Processes
The articles are submitted to the anonymous evaluation carried out by at least two ad hoc reviewers, through the blinded review system. These consultants are carefully selected to evaluate the work without conflicting interests.
Annually, a complete list of all consultants is published in the latest issue of the journal.
Transparency
Journal staff keep readers informed of steps taken to ensure the fundamentals and evaluation process. The submission of texts through the OJS/SEER system guarantees the author's access to the progress of the evaluation process.
Archiving
This journal uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archival system among participating libraries and allow them to create permanent journal archives for preservation and restoration.
The digital preservation service of Brazilian electronic journals was made by Rede CARINIANA, and is available to the partners' institutions and the editors of the journals published on the SEER platform (Open Jornal Systems).
This innovative service coordinated by IBICT is the first to establish a national network for the preservation of open access journals in the world. Following the international trend towards the creation of electronic journal archiving agencies, the Institute and the Network's partners responded to the need to guarantee long-term access to Brazilian publications that were not yet included in the major digital preservation initiatives. With this service, CARINIANA begins activities to promote the digital preservation of digital collections produced in Brazil.
The Publications Nucleus (NUP) of the Educational Sciences Center, has a technical reserve of printed copies of the Revista Journal.
