Notes on the praxis in the critical theory

Abstract

This article aims to contribute to the understanding of the meaning of the category praxis in critical theory, principally in the way it is applied to some of the works of Adorno and Horkheimer. It discusses the possible relationships of continuity and rupture between Marx understandings and those of these authors. It searches to analyze the reasons for an approach more centered on the superstructure made by Adorno and Horkheimer, as well as to commenton the consequences of this approach in the development of the category práxis. Finally, through a discussion, the text also aims at contributing to avoid an idealistic understanding of the praxis category.

Moacir Fernando Viegas, UNISC - Santa Cruz do Sul - RS

Possui graduação em Pedagogia Séries Iniciais pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1989), mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1993) e doutorado em Educação pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2001). Atualmente é professor adjunto da Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul, atuando na graduação e na pós-graduação stricto sensu, fazendo parte, nessa última, da linha de pesquisa Educação, Trabalho e Emancipação, do mestrado em Educação.
