This study examines the motivations behind women's involvement in armed resistance during the civil-military dictatorship in Brazil. It investigates whether these motivations were comparable to those driving their pursuit of education and entry into the workforce prior to the dictatorship, or if they stemmed from a commitment to combat authoritarianism and advocate for democracy. Through an analysis of the activist trajectories of four female political prisoners affiliated with the Brazilian Revolutionary Communist Party (PCBR) in Pernambuco from 1968 to 1978, this research aims to elucidate women's political agency in the public sphere. By employing documentary and bibliographical research under the thematic framework of 'Women and Political Formation,' this study reveals distinct feminine practices that challenge the historical stereotype of female passivity.
