Between September 1873 and March 1875, British geologist Charles Barrington Brown, in the company of two fellow researchers, went into a journey aiming at exploring the Amazon region. The result was the travel writing book Fifteen Thousand Miles on the Amazon and its Tributaries, published in 1878, whose translation is the object of this article. Based on Brown’s expeditions through the Amazon basin, this book describes its dazzling landscapes and his own experiences during the trip, including every challenge faced and interactions with aboriginal natives. This article presents this piece, comments regarding its preface and first chapter translation proposal, highlighting the author’s insights analysed through ecotranslation theoretical lenses.
