Originality: Pomerode is a city located in Santa Catarina with a significant cultural heritage and characteristics that could consolidate it as a creative city.
Objective: The general objective of this study was to analyze the city of Pomerode from the perspective of the creative economy, specifically from three dimensions of the E-Criatur model.
Methodology: An exploratory qualitative approach was adopted, with data collection from databases, social networks, and interviews with local managers. Content analysis was used to discuss the results.
Results: The results show significant progress in mapping creative activities and networks in Pomerode, with handicrafts being the most prominent activity among the recognized areas in the region. It was evident that Pomerode has an international reach in terms of promotion due to its cultural roots, mainly with Germany and Italy. Regarding the city's promotion strategies, a positive movement was observed in the integrated planning between public and private actors for actions aimed at local development.
Contributions: As theoretical implications, this study provides an analysis of the city of Pomerode through the lens of the creative economy, contributing to the foundation of future research. Several practical management actions were identified that can be replicated and/or improved in cities with similar characteristics and potential for the development of the creative economy. Regarding social contributions, some difficulties faced by creative classes were identified, suggesting that public authorities should address these problems.
