Objective: Reflect on the specificity of anthropological data and map what is discussed in the scientific literature about the challenges of opening this type of document.
Methods: First, it carries out a theoretical discussion to understand the specificities of the field of open research data and anthropological research data. Finally, it performs a systematic literature review with the intention of verifying the state of the art of publications on anthropological research data.
Results: The results found were analyzed and grouped into five groups of thematic convergence: 1) problem of ethics in opening data on the internet; 2) specific issues between Information Science and Anthropology; 3) communicational and relational demands of the repositories' platforms; 4) specificity of the multimedia data of the subfield called Visual Anthropology; 5) digital repositories for anthropological museums that house research data.
Conclusions: The literature on the subject is still small, but it has been growing since 2015, mainly in the English language. It is concluded that there are several specific challenges for the realization of digital repositories for this type of data and that interdisciplinary relationships between Information Science and Anthropology, Communication and Museology are desired to overcome these adversities.
