Abstract

Communities of practice are collaborative learning environments used in training and professional development in Physical Education.. Thus, the aim of this study is to analyze the development of a community of practice for the professional learning of swimming teachers. To this end, a qualitative, descriptive , and case study research was carried out. Two swimming teachers and a facilitating teacher participated in the study. As instruments of data collection, were used: reflective writing, recordings of the meetings, focus group interview, and audio and text messages in WhatsApp group. The qualitative analysis of the data was through the technique of content analysis. The results show that the way in which the interactions between the members occurred, the definition of challenges and the construction of strategies characterize this group of teachers as a community of practice at an early  stage.
