This article aims to present what the voluntary associations for mutual aid of workers in Florianópolis - SC, between 1886 and 1932 were and how they were organized. Initially, a mapping of these associations is carried out, then moving on to an analysis of their forms of organization and an attempt to understand who were the people who associated themselves with these institutions and what they sought.
