Abstract

In this paper some ideas and demands of the modern conservative system are discussed, which support actions and politics of the higher educational reform in Brazil, as it has taken placein other countries according to the actual global capitalism. Mechanismsthat have been used and predictable consequences for the historical identity of the universities are also presented. Chile and United Kingdom are well-illustrated examples of what may happen in Brazil if the tendency of an accelerated privatization of the higher educational system is maintained with the introduction of a competitive marketing logic in its institutions.
