Abstract

This article approaches education as social policy in the context of the educational reforms which have been taking place in Brazil since the 1990’s. It is based on the finding that the country has experienced an intense process of educational reform, which is expressed in actions and measures that have altered the configuration of the educational system as well as policy objective. A clear orientation of Brazilian educational policy is identified that follows social policies in general. Minimum income programs associated to education are analyzed.
