This paper analyzes the discursive change surrounding the figure of the witch by examining the textual materiality of public Instagram profiles how women claim this identity. The resignification of the witch’s figure reflects the discursive change that emerges with the “new spirit of capitalism”, which has taken upon itself the mission of imposing a sanitized logic of feminism while perpetuating dominations of race, class, and gender. It is understood that the witch hunts embodied a violent and misogynistic model of collective discipline of women and only began to subside from the 19th century onwards as a process of recovery and rescue of the figure of the historical witch as a victim of a system of oppression.
