Intersectionality and food activism of black women in Brazil

Food and nutritional insecurity in Brazil reveal structural inequalities that are intertwined by race, class, and gender, and that affect black women living in poverty more intensely. This article discusses how the fight for gender equity, articulated with racial and social dimensions, can contribute to overcoming food inequalities. Based on the analysis of four organizations, it is evident that food activism led by black women mobilizes collective strategies of resistance and political participation, pointing the way to the construction of more just and inclusive public policies.
