Abstract

The paper reports a research on the use and assessment of information sources about the external environment among professionals of 53 small and 64 large Brazilian companies. The results reveal that, in comparison with professionals of small companies, those associated with large ones are more frequent readers of newspapers and magazines. Similarly, they use more intensively sources such as internal memos. The access of internal and personal sources such as colleagues and subordinates is also higher among members of larger companies. In addition, members of large companies consider governmental sources of information as more reliable than those associated with small companies.
