Abstract

This article presents some terms used in natural science - especially in geomorphology which is used to represent landscapes in the field of arts. For this reason, part of the origins guiding some of the principles of geomorphology, such as catastrophism and uniformitarianism, try to explain the landscape or its shape according to a current way of thinking in any given time, arriving to the most recent works of geomorphology applied in environmental studies such as the geomorphosites. The concepts of evolution of the natural space in geomorphology and the idea of building spaces done by landscapers, in particular those of Burle Marx, lead to an Art Land or landscape art. This methodology is based mainly in bibliographical material and works by the author using mix techniques on fixed surfaces (canvas) in artistic works of art shapes. Ending this analysis, self-evidence concepts based on academic studies about the relationship between man and environment or man and natural landscape can be applied in arts. In the end, the author introduces the work of art in a concept of space in relation to scale (disproportion) and time, highlighting the ephemeral condition of man, considering natural processes.
