Author Guidelines

GENERAL ASPECTS

INTERthesis publishes interdisciplinary research papers in the field of Human Sciences and its related areas, resulting from scientific research, theoretical essays and case studies. The papers must be original, unpublished and present a significant contribution to the scientific community.

The  journal does not accept submissions of literature reviews, scientific productionanalyses, or user studies. Only papers that contain a substantial contributions to the development of science will be considered. Papers already presented in full  in other journals or in annals of scientific events will not be accepted.  Short papers  and abstracts may be accepted if there is significant reworking, expansions and modifications, making the work original in relation to the first. In such cases, during the submission process, the journal must be informed of the event at which the previous version was presented. In the case of papers derived from monographs, it must be informed the Postgraduate Program and the Evaluation Board to which the manuscript was submitted.

Papers submitted to INTERthesis must not be or have been submitted to another journal throughout the editorial process.

Texts may be presented in Portuguese, English or Spanish.

The average time between receiving and approving the manuscript is approximately 120 days.

The average time between  receiving and confirming the publication is approximately 150 days.

All works published in the journal INTERthesis will receive a DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

Aligned with the Open Science movement, our journal supports the use of preprint servers and accepts manuscripts previously deposited on reliable servers, such as SciELO Preprints: https://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/user/register

The journal supports the use of institutional repositories for depositing versions of your article, as well as repositories aimed at the preservation, dissemination and reuse of data, such as SciELO Data: https://data.scielo.org/.

In both cases, INTERthesis editors must be informed about the deposit of the preprint and/or data in the repository during the submission process.

ABOUT THE SUBMISSION

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's platform.

Documents created on Microsoft Word must have the author’s identification revomed from their properties. Watch a video on how to do this.

If the publication derives from a thesis or dissertation, or has been published on any preprint platform, or is part of the results of a research project, the authors must declares this fact on the Work Notes document, informing: 

  • Title, author, university, and year of publication (for works derived from dissertations or theses).
  • The name of the repository name and the full reference of the article (for works previously published on preprint platforms).
  • Project title, coordinator(s), research group, university, and center, and/or department and/or institute.

Upon submission, the following documents must be included:

  • The manuscript for evaluation (complete file, including cover sheet, abstract in Portuguese, English, and/or Spanish, references, and illustrations in Docx format);
  • Illustrations (in separate and editable files in the BMP, JPEG, JPG, PNG, SVG, and AVIF formats);
  • The documents required by the journal duly filled and signed;
    1. Work Notes (template) containing information such as:
  • Details about the work;
  • Open Science compliance;
  • Acknowledgments and Research Dataset;
  • Author's responsibility confirmation regarding the content of the work, including the signature of each author who participated in the construction of the work.
    1. Declaration of Translation Certificate (if applicable). 
    2. Copy of approval of the Decision by the Research Ethics Committee (if applicable) based on Resolution n. 510, April 7, 2016, which define the regulations applicable to research in Human and Social Sciences. All manuscripts that involve recruitment of participants and data collection involving human beings, must be accompanied by a copy of the approval by the Research Ethics Committee.
    3. Document attesting to permission to use of illustrations (tables, photographs, charts, among others) (if applicable).

All authors listed in the manuscript must sign the documents. Only digital and/or scanned signatures are allowed to avoid any type of fraud. All documents must be submitted in PDF format.

The manuscript must follow the models provided by the journal, according to the categories below:

  • Article (template): Text resulting from completed research (bibliographic, documental, experimental) highlighting the theoretical-methodological framework, research procedures, and reached results. 
  • Essay (template): Text resulting from theoretical reflection that delves into a theme or new approach to a theme important for academic debate in the Interdisciplinary area.
  • Interview (template): Text resulting from the collection of statements to disclose a professional experience, based on a study of specific cases and with comments of interest to the Interdisciplinary area. 
  • Translation (template): Translations of articles that address subjects belonging to and of fundamental importance to the field of Interdisciplinary Studies will be accepted. The criteria adopted for the selection of translations are: originality, clarity, relevance to the area.
  • Review (template): Reviews submitted to the journal must be critical, promote an analysis of the work and situate the book within a broad context of academic debate and emphasize the theoretical and methodological implications. We do not accept reviews that exclusively present a summary of the book.
