Computerization and organization of the work in university libraries: compared study between Brazil, Mmozambique and South África

The article, based on a comparative study between university libraries of some developing countries like Brazil, South-Africa and Mozambique, discusses the information process of these libraries, from an integrated angle, which includes, beyond the technological aspects, those related to the management of the process, the organization of the work and the qualification of the employees, treating them like equally importance. Although it represents a partial analysis, the data points at a direct relation between a technological adoption within these libraries and the economic, political and social macro-environment. It is also evident, that the technological adoption is a process endogenous to the institution and that every stage must go with the corresponding improvement of the administrative mechanics; if this doesn’t happen, the whole information unit will decline, even with the use of the most advanced technology.Downloads
