Methodological validation and reliability in qualitative research: applications to a study in sports pedagogy

Abstract

Qualitative research in sport pedagogy has conquered academic recognition, but doubts about its randomness, subjectivity and lack of rigor based on researcher ethics. We defend, based on philosophical reflections, a position favorable to the adoption of criteria of methodological rigor for qualitative research, however, our position is not based on a split, but on the possible dialogue between the positivist premises that support the search for rigor and the possibility of full involviment of the researcher with de research field. Thus, we present our efforts in conducting a postgraduate study on youth competitions, presenting the methodological paths traveled in search of validation and reliability for data collection procedures and analytical treatment of qualitative data.

Lucas Leonardo, Federal University of Amazonas

Professor at the Faculty of Physical Education and Physiotherapy (FEFF) at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). He holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the State University of Campinas (2005) and a hods a graduation degree in Physical Education from the State University of Campinas (2007). Mater in Physical Education and Society from the State University of Campinas (2018) and PhD in Physical Education and Society from the State University of Campinas (2022). He has experience in the area of ​​Physical Education, with an emphasis on Sport Pedagogy, working mainly on the following topics: sport pedagogy, youth sport, youth competitions, team sports, handball, game pedagogy and coach morals and ethics.

Tathyane Krahenbühl, Federal University of Amazonas

Effective Professor at the Faculty of Physical Education and Dance at the Federal University of Goiás. PhD in Sciences, Faculty of Medical Sciences, State University of Campinas (2017). PhD in Sciences, Faculty of Medical Sciences, State University of Campinas (2014). Specialist in Handball (Postgraduate Latu Sensu) by Escola Superior de Educação Física de Jundiaí (2011). Full Degree and Bachelor in Physical Education, Faculty of Physical Education, State University of Campinas (2008/2012). Areas of study and performance: Sport Pedagogy, Sports Training, Game Analysis, Team Sports, Handball, Bone health of athletes.

Alcides José Scaglia, Campinas State University

Lecturer in Sport Pedagogy and Game Pedagogy from the State University of Campinas (2019), PhD in Movement Pedagogy from the State University of Campinas (2003), Master in Sport Pedagogy from the State University of Campinas (1999), Degree in Education Physics from the State University of Campinas (1995) and a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the State University of Campinas (1995). Has experience in the field of Physical Education and Sports, developing studies, projects and research in the areas of: School Physical Education, Game and Sport Pedagogy, with emphasis on teaching-learning-training methodology of collective invasion games, soccer from initiation to game training and pedagogy. He is currently an associate professor (M.S.5.1) at the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FCA-UNICAMP) in the Sport Sciences course at UNICAMP, co-responsible for research at LEPE (Laboratory of Studies in Sport Pedagogy), leader of the research group LEPE-FUT . Full professor in the postgraduate, master's and doctoral program at the Faculty of Physical Education (FEF) at UNICAMP.
