Este artigo apresenta as contribuições ao dossiê especial sobre história ambiental e do trabalho. Ele explora as relações entre os campos da história do trabalho e da história ambiental, tanto histórica quanto tematicamente, e situa as contribuições do dossiê dentro desse contexto historiográfico mais amplo, inserindo-as em um diálogo em constante evolução na fronteira entre os campos, que se estende por várias décadas. Essa conversa fecunda incluiu alguns pioneiros da história ambiental.
