The aim of this paper is to analyze the theme of the education of the body as discussed by Theodor W. Adorno in some of his essays, conferences, and debates. The paper analyzes the author’s “pedagogic texts” as well as the epistemological route offered by his Dialectic of Enlightenment, book written with Max Horkheimer. The results show how the body reaches a pedagogic dimension in Adorno’s work and are introduced through two broad concepts: 1) the immediate content, expressed in comments referred to what is traditionally
understood as the education of the body, specially sports and the way they are taught; and 2) the latent content of the education of the body, rooted in the book passages where the somatic is emphasized, bringing important contributions for
the understanding of the role of the body in Adorno´s pedagogic project.
