Research and education of critical intellectuals in graduate Education courses

Abstract

The article discusses some characteristics of the critical intellectual and suggests evaluation criteria for the effective education of this intellectual in the realm of graduate degree courses in education.
It critically analyses the conditions in which Brazilian intellectuals are educated in these times of a decreasing respect for knowledge. Finally, the article analyzes the reproduction of the structure of alienated daily life in educational institutions, including the university and graduate education programs.

Author Biography

Newton Duarte, UNESP - Araraquara - SP

Graduou-se em Pedagogia pela UFSCAR em 1985, tendo obtido o grau de Mestre em Educação pela mesma em 1987. Defendeu sua tese de doutorado na UNICAMP, em 1992. Em 1988 ingressou como docente na UNESP, campus de Marília, tendo transferido-se em 1989 para o campus de Araraquara onde atua até a presente data como livre-docente em psicologia da educação. De agosto de 2003 a junho de 2004 realizou pós-doutorado na U.T, Canadá, com bolsa da CAPES. Em 2002 criou, juntamente com Maria Célia Marcondes de Moraes, o grupo de pesquisa Estudos Marxistas em Educação que conta atualmente com pesquisadores da UNESP, UFSC, UFSCar, UFPR, UFES, UEM e UDESC. É autor de livros, capítulos de livros e artigos, publicados no Brasil e no exterior.
