Abstract

This article aims at contributing to the analysis of the international rela-tions of the Argentine labor movement, specifically focusing on the presence and impact of the “free” trade union movement in Argentina. In particular, it studies the presence and impact of the ICFTU and its regional organization ORIT from the late 1940s to the 1980s. First, it includes a brief historical and historiographical note about the ICFTU and ORIT. Second, based on new archival sources, it presents a possible chronology of the relationship between the ICFTU-ORIT and the Argen-tine labor movement, as well as an analysis of some key moments and transfor-mations of this relationship in each of the sub-periods. Lastly, the paper presents some preliminary conclusions.
