This paper examines the first demonstrations organized by employees of a British company Ceara Tramway, Light and Power, from Fortaleza, in 1917, 1919 and 1925. We lookat the motivations for the relationship of workers with the company and the state, establishing the connections between these movements and their socio-economical and political developments. In addition, we analyzed the ways of managing the workforce, themechanisms of domination and the hierarchical structure of Light.
