Abstract

In this article, I outline, first, a brief genealogy of the concept of intersectionality, its relevant contributions to feminisms and its equivocal appropriations. Second, I analyze the critical reading that María Lugones makes of this concept and point to some of the limitations of her assessment.

Holder of Literary Theory at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Graduated in Philosophy and Theories of Communication - Michigan State University, MA in Theories of Communication - Michigan State University and Ph.D. in Cultural Studies - University of Illinois at Urbana. She was a visiting professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Santa Cruz and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is a CNPq productivity fellow.
